PRCC cops first, third-place golf finishes at Co-Lin, Hinds

     POPLARVILLE   Pearl River Community College's golf team copped third-place
finishes at tournaments hosted by Copiah-Lincoln and Hinds.
     The Wildcats finished third in the Division II field at Co-Lin's Wolf Hollow Golf Club in
Wesson on Monday, then followed with another third-place finish at Hinds' Eagle Ridge Golf
Club in Raymond on Tuesday.
     PRCC fired a team score of 323 at Wolf Hollow, paced by Josh Brunet's team-high
roundof 78. Brunet, a sophomore from South Lafourche, La., earned All-Tournament honors.
D.J. Pulley of Sumrall fired an 81, while John Mathis and Todd Jackson, both of Poplarville, fired
rounds of 82. Shawn Herrin of Carriere, a former Pearl River Central standout, fired an 83.
     PRCC trailed champ Meridian, which shot 311, and Hinds, which shot 318. Mississippi
Gulf Coast finished fourth with a 325, followed by East Mississippi (326), Northeast (336),
Itawamba (344), and Holmes (345).
     In Division III competition, host Copiah-Lincoln was tops at 337, followed by Northwest
(349), East Central (355), and Jones (357). Southwest didn't qualify, as it had only three players
competing.
     Meridian's Dan Luke was the tournament medalist with a round of 75. Other All-
Tournament picks were Ben Black of Holmes (77), Brad Blair of Meridian (77), Edward Wall of
Hinds (77), and Clark Weems of Meridian (79).
     At Eagle Ridge, Pearl River's 307 score was 13 strokes shy of champion Hinds' 294.
Mississippi Gulf Coast finished second with a 305, followed by PRCC, Holmes (312), East
Mississippi (325) and Itawamba (335). A Northeast player was disqualified and the Tigers didn't
place.
     PRCC's Herrin earned All-Tournament honors with his team-high score of 73, while
Pulley, Mathis, and Jackson fired rounds of 78. Brunet shot a 79.
     In Division III competition, Northwest was tops with a 315, followed by Copiah-Lincoln
(318), East Central (338), Jones (343, and Southwest (357).
     Hinds' Chris Moulds was the tournament medalist with a round of 70. Other All-
Tournament picks were Wall (71), Wesley Rogers of Copiah-Lincoln (72), Alex Thompson of
Meridian (73), and Andrew Tullos of Mississippi Gulf Coast (73).
     Pearl River returns to action Tuesday at a Meridian-hosted tournament at Northwood
Golf Club in Meridian.
