Cannon win clinches
region title for PRCC
Pearl River Community College
sophomore Jake Smith of Picayune hoists the Region XXIII championship plaque
skyward following the Wildcats 5-4 victory over Hinds for the regional
title. Smith started at second base for PRCC the entire season, but exited
the game in the seventh inning due to dehydration and watched the final
two frames of the battle from the dugout with an IV firmly planted in his
arm. The victory marked the first-ever baseball championship for PRCC ---
state or regional --- in school history. --- PRCC Sports Information Photo |
