MACJC State Tournament is revamped due to rain
Friday’s action rained out; Lumberton High to host two games Saturday

POPLARVILLE — The 2004 MACJC State Baseball Tournament slate has been
revamped due to Friday’s rain out with nearby Lumberton High School hosting two rescheduled games on Saturday.
Thursday’s first-round match up between second-seeded Itawamba and
fifth-seeded Hinds was moved to Friday morning due to rain, but was again rained out. That contest will be played on the LHS diamond north of Poplarville at 10 a.m.
Top-seeded host PRCC, 11-0 winners over sixth-seeded Mississippi Delta in Thursday night’s rain-delayed nightcap, will take on Meridian Saturday at 10 a.m. here in Wildcat Stadium; followed by the Co-Lin versus the ICC-HCC winner at 1 p.m. Mississippi Delta will face the ICC-HCC loser at 1 p.m. at Lumberton.
In addition, all games have been scaled back to seven-inning affairs due to the restructured schedule. Meridian defeated Co-Lin 5-4 in the tournament’s opening
game in nine innings, while PRCC took a five-inning shutout over MDCC in the only other game played thus far. That game had been rescheduled as a seven-inning contest.
LHS’s baseball diamond is located on Highway 13 west in Lumberton. From Poplarville, head north on Interstate 59 for some 11 miles, turn off on the Lumberton exit, turn left on Highway 13. The stadium is approximately one mile away on the left.
The third-round will be set for Sunday beginning at 12 noon, while the
championship will be played Monday at 1 p.m. If a second game is necessary, it will start at 4 p.m.
