PRCC competes in statewide
Phi Beta Lambda competition
POPLARVILLE- Pearl
River Community College business students proved that
they're ready for business
during the statewide Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) competition recently held in
Fulton, Ms. PRCC claimed first place in the Word Processing Competition
with the Network Design Team, Visual Basics, and C++ placing second, and
Computer Concepts placing third. In addition, PBL recognized the
PRCC Beta Tau as being the number one chapter in the state for collecting
$1,460 to support the March of Dimes...more

River swept Bishop State (Ala.) in NJCAA baseball
action here Wednesday, taking
a 12-1 five-inning blowout victory in the first game and following with
a 4-3 come-from-behind win in the nightcap. The Wildcats improved to 12-4
overall, while Bishop dropped to 4-11. Freshman lefthander Craig Rodriguez

River’s MACJC championship basketball team have placed two players on the
All-MACJC and All-Region 23 post-season squads. Forward Larry Brackins
of Dothan, Ala. and center Ray Selvage of Baton Rouge were named to the
All-MACJC and All-Region 23 squads, while Brackins was also named to the
All-Region 23 Tournament team. The two sophomores were tied as the top
vote getters in the league with 57 votes each...more

Lady ’Cats finish second
in Pensacola Tournament
PRCC makes history with
4-3 victory over host PJC on Saturday
PENSACOLA, Fla.
— Pearl River’s Lady Wildcats lost to nationally-ranked
Parkland (Ill.) here Saturday
to finish second in the Pensacola Junior College Tournament, while defeating
the touted event hosts for the first time in school history to earn a berth
in the championship game. PRCC, 5-6 overall after the tournament, fell
9-2 to Parkland, which finished second in the nation in 2002 and fourth
a year ago.

Susan Nodurft, faculty member and director of the Courage to Teach program
at Pearl River Community College, presented recent teacher education developments
at the college to a national gathering of community college educators.

Conference held in San Francisco, Dr. Nodurft shared the development of
the Mississippi Courage to Teach program, creation of the Center for Teacher
