PRCC splits with Northwest to wrap in Gulf Coast Tournament
Wildcats drop to 4-2 with 89-77 loss to Rangers;
Lady Wildcats improve to 6-1 with 58-56 victory

     PERKINSTON — Pearl River Community College split with Northwest Mississippi in the final round of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Tournament here Wednesday.
     The defending MACJC state champ Wildcats dropped to 4-2 overall with an 89-77 loss to the Rangers, while the Lady Wildcats improved to 6-1 with a 58-56 victory over Northwest’s women.
     In men’s action, Northwest led 46-32 at the intermission, but the Wildcats rebounded with a 45-43 advantage in the second half but came up 12 points shy of victory.
     Alton Johnson led PRCC with a game-high 26 points (15 rebounds, two treys), while Jeremy Holder added 16 (five rebounds), Gabe Willis eight (two treys), Terry Wade and Marquez Singleton, seven each; Dale Clay and Thomas Fraise, four each; Laron Magee three, and Brandon Mitchell two.
     Adrian Banks paced Northwest with 17 (three treys), while LeDarius Johnson added 16, Byron Ray 12, Currye Todd (three treys) and Tarrell Wilson, 11 each, Lamar Sanders 10, Joemal Campbell eight, and Justin Neely four.
     From the foul line, PRCC was 17 of 28, while Northwest was 15 of 27.
