SENATOBIA — Pearl River Community College split with Northwest Mississippi in women’s and men’s MACJC non-division soccer action here Tuesday.
The women dropped a hard-fought 2-0 battle to the Lady Rangers to drop to 4-3-1 overall, while the Wildcats pounced the Rangers 3-0 to improve to 5-2-1. NWCC’s women dropped to 7-2, while its men dropped to 5-4-1.
In women’s action, Northwest led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal by forward Lindsey Matthews. Midfielder Anna Stennett added her seventh goal of the season in the second half to help the Lady Rangers earn the victory.
In the men's match, sophomore forward Erin Lyon of Ponchatoula, La., and sophomore sweeper Brandon Baas of Oak Grove scored goals in the first half to put PRCC up 2-0 at the intermission, while sophomore midfielder Jonathan Rawls of Hattiesburg High finished off the Rangers with a goal in the second half.
PRCC received four red cards in the contest.
