PEARL RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE

PRCC public relations staff captures 14 awards
    POPLARVILLE - Pearl River Community College’s public relations staff
captured 14 awards, including four first-place awards, in annual
competition sponsored by the College Public Relations Association of
Mississippi (CPRAM).
    The public relations staff also won five second-place awards, three
third-place awards and two honorable mention awards. PRCC competes in
the junior college division of CPRAM, which is open to all 15
community/junior colleges across the state.
    Senior college staff compete in a separate division. The awards were
presented during CPRAM’s annual spring meeting this month in Biloxi for
work performed in 2004.
    Here are the PRCC award winners:
    > First place: News Story, “PRCC opens Advanced Technology Center,”
Chuck Abadie, a news story on the opening of the Lowery A. Woodall
Advanced Technology Center.
   > First place: Color Photography, “Football Action Pass,” Mitch
Deaver.
    > First place: Black & White Photography, “Soccer,” Mitch Deaver.
    > First place: Public Relations Innovation, “PRCC Coloring Book,”
Chuck Abadie and Ricky Nobile.
   > Second place: Single piece of artwork: “PRCC National Champs,”
Mitch Deaver.
   >  Second place: Black & White Photography, “PRCC Basketball,” Mitch
Deaver.
   > Second place: Television Programs, “PRCC Christmas Wish,” Ronn Hague
and Chuck Abadie.
   > Second place: Public Relations Campaign, “PRCC Story,” Ronn Hague.
   > Second place: Exhibits, “PRCC in Turtle Creek Mall,” Chuck Abadie and
Francis Rawls.
   > Third place: Feature Stories, Newspaper, college partnership benefits
Center workers,” Pam Luke.
   > Third place: Sports Stories, “PRCC 1961 team mirrors 2004 Wildcats,”
Chuck Abadie.
   > Third place: Admissions and Recruiting, “PRCC: Movin’ On,” Chuck
Abadie and Ronn Hague.
   > Honorable mention: Brochure, “Lowery Woodall ATC Center,” Chuck
Abadie and Ronn Hague.
   > Honorable mention: Advertisements, “PRCC Double Truck,” Chuck Abadie
and Ronn Hague.
     “It's outstanding for our staff to receive high awards in competition
with our colleagues at other community/junior colleges in the state,”
said Chuck Abadie, Director of Public Relations at PRCC. “It speaks well
of the information product PRCC offers daily to the public. Everyone on
the staff has worked hard this year and they deserve recognition.”
     Hague, a Petal native and 1999 PRCC graduate, is the school’s webmaster
and yeardisk advisor. Deaver, a Purvis native and 1975 PRCC graduate, is
assistant director of public relations and Dixie Drawl advisor. Luke is
public relations assistant, and Rawls is PRCC bookstore manager.
