PRCC soccer men, women split in last two outings
Wildcats, Lady ’Cats sweep Co-Lin before being falling to Hinds for first losses of 2005 season

     POPLARVILLE — Pearl River Community College’s men’s and women’s soccer squads dropped there first two contests of the 2005 season Wednesday, falling to perennial powerhouse Hinds in Raymond.
     Last Saturday, PRCC’s teams swept MACJC South Division rival Copiah-Lincoln in Poplarville 4-0 (men), 9-1 (women), but both dropped to 4-1 overall with their 3-1 (men) and 2-0 (women) losses to the Eagles.
     Against Hinds, Laura Alford scored both goals for the Lady Eagles; while Cyrus Wakaba, Dexter Moody, and Justin Starnes scored for the Hinds men. Michael Kivlan of St. Stanislaus scored the Wildcats’ only goal of the contest.
     In women’s action against Co-Lin, Nikki Shows of Forrest County AHS scored three goals for the Lady Wildcats, while Erin Holder of Oak Grove and Mandy Walker of Florence had two goals each. Kasey Kendry of Oak Grove had an own goal.
     In men’s action, Buddy Irias of Waveland, Shawn Moran of Bay High, Michael Goodsell of Ocean Springs, and Kerry Payne of Oak Grove scored for the Wildcats.
Both Co-Lin squads remained winless with the losses.
     Pearl River returns to action Saturday when it hosts Northwest Mississippi at 2 p.m. (women) and 4 p.m. (men), when Jones visits for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. games on Tuesday.
