PRCC'S ADN program graduates 37

     POPLARVILLE ­ Thirty-seven graduates from Pearl River Community College's Associate Degree Nursing Program gathered at the James Lynn Cartlidge Forrest County Multi Purpose Center Extension Office this May wearing their white uniforms for the first time as graduate nurses. The graduating students participated in a traditional nametag pinning ceremony, lighted their Nightingale Lamps, and recited the Nightingale Nursing Pledge.
     ADN graduate Logan Williams of Carriere gave the graduating class speech. Williams congratulated his fellow students on their achievement and thanked the nursing instructors. “We want to thank the faculty for preparing us to do our jobs efficiently.”
     Nursing graduates Charles Bickers of Hattiesburg gave the invocation, Brenda Metzler of Carriere gave the benediction, and Carrie Windham of Foxworth led the Nightingale Pledge. Associate Degree Nursing Director Peggy Dease, Sophomore Nursing Coordinator Belinda Holden, and Nursing Instructor Marlene Shivers presented the students’ official name pins. Nursing Instructors Holly Carney and Queen Walters presented the lamps.
     Dease was proud of the students. “I call this class my Phase II of Katrina babies. You have persevered and succeeded.”
