Wildcats, Lady Wildcats eye Region 23 Tournament next week at Miss. College

     POPLARVILLE — Pearl River Community College’s women’s and men’s basketball teams enter the Region 23 Tournament next week at Mississippi College in Clinton.
      PRCC’s men entered last week’s MACJC State Tournament at Itawamba CC in Fulton as the South Division’s No. 3 seed, but were eliminated in the first round with a 69-55 loss to North No. 2 Northeast Mississippi in first-round action.
      PRCC’s women, on the other hand, was a win shy of qualifying for the state event.
      Itawamba’s women and men both won state titles last week and enter the regionals as their respective No. 1 seeds.
      Here is a breakdown of the women’s regional bracket:

Monday, March 3

12 noon: No. 3 Holmes vs. No. 6 Southern-Shreveport
2 p.m.: No. 4 East Central vs. No. 5 Southwest Mississippi
6 p.m.: No. 1 Itawamba vs. No. 8 Pearl River
8 p.m.: No. 2 Meridian vs. No. 7 Copiah-Lincoln

Wednesday, March 5

12 noon: Meridian-Co-Lin winner vs. Holmes-Southern-Shreveport winner
2 p.m.: Itawamba-Pearl River winner vs. East Central-Southwest Mississippi winner

Thursday, March 6

6 p.m.: Women’s championship

Tuesday, March 4

12 noon: Louisiana No. 1 Bossier Parish vs. South No. 2 Meridian
2 p.m.: North No. 2 Northeast Mississippi vs. South No. 3 Pearl River
6 p.m.: North No. 1 Itawamba vs. South No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast
8 p.m.: South No. 1 Copiah-Lincoln vs. North No. 4 Mississippi Delta

Wednesday, March 5

6 p.m.: Copiah-Lincoln-Mississippi Delta winner vs. Northeast-Pearl River winner
8 p.m.: Itawamba-Mississippi Gulf Coast winner vs. Bossier Parish-Meridian winner

Thursday, March 6

8 P.M.: Men’s championship
