Region 23 action postponed due to lightning, thunderstorms

POPLARVILLE — Region 23 Tournament baseball action underway here at Pearl River Community College will continue at 10 a.m. Thursday after lightning and threatening thunderstorms halted action late Wednesday afternoon.
Second-ranked LSU-Eunice canned fifth-ranked Itawamba 9-0 in seven innings to open the tournament Wednesday afternoon, but the ensuing game between MACJC and top-seeded Meridian against sixth-seeded Mississippi Gulf Coast was halted in the bottom of the seventh due to threatening weather conditions. MCC led 3-2 when the game was halted.
The game is tentatively set to continue at 10 a.m. Thursday, immediately followed by the Pearl River versus Northeast Mississippi game which was originally scheduled as Wednesday’s 7 p.m. nightcap game.
The PRCC-NEMCC loser will then take on the MCC-MGCCC loser, followed by the PRCC-NEMCC winner against Itawamba. LSU-E will face the MCC-MGCCC winner in Thursday’s nightcap contest.
