Melodrama coming to Pearl River Community College
POPLARVILLE - Puns and sight gags will fill Olivia Bender Cafeteria when the Pearl River Community College Department of
Fine Arts and Communications presents its fall play.
Nine students are cast in "The Mosley Street Melodramas," a comedy by Tom Frye.
The students will be performing two of the four melodramas, said Chris Flynn, speech and theater instructor.
"It’s typical melodrama - comedy, silly, puns, visual gags," he said. "We are doing it in the round or arena style. That will be
something different."
The cast will present "The Lost Samantha Treasure or She’s Better Than Gold" and "The Plague on Madison Avenue or General
Horsepital."
Cast members for "The Lost Samantha Treasure" are Kirstin Taylor, Brandy Edick, Nathan Anderson and Matthew Fillingame,
all of Purvis; Stephanie Keller of Picayune, David Durham and Julian Benson, both of Hattiesburg; and Ryan Myhand of
Agricola. Cassandra Frierson of Carriere joins them in "The Plague on Madison Avenue."
Stage manager is Jay Magruder of Picayune. Crew members are Eric Scarabin and Mandi Jackson.
The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 12 and 13, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Tickets are $5.
For advance tickets, call 601 403-1180.
