Ward named GED counselor at PRCC
HATTIESBURG - Terri Clark Ward of Purvis has joined the faculty at Pearl River Community College as GED Success
Counselor at the Forrest County Center.
She will work with students in PRCC’s adult education program, which offers free GED preparation classes to students who did
not earn a high school diploma.
"I like working with non-traditional students to help them reach whatever their career goal is," she said. "One of the good things
about this job is I’m out in the community a lot. I like marketing the adult education program in the six counties we serve."
The Adult Education Programs offer training to enhance a student’s opportunities in obtaining and retaining employment. These
programs assist individuals with first obtaining a GED or improving their basic skills, and then progressing to other types of
training, including college, that will make them more employable.
Ward received a bachelor science degree in family and consumer sciences education in 2003 and a master of science degree in
counseling psychology in 2007 from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has been a counselor in the Forrest County
schools for four years.
"I’m excited about Terri working with our adult basic education students," said program director Barry Upton. "She is well
equipped to help our students earn the GED and make the transition to college."
An avid runner, Ward competes in marathons. She is a native of the Dixie community, graduated from Forrest County
Agricultural High School and attends First Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. She is married to Patrick Ward.
In addition to the classes at the Forrest County Center, PRCC offers GED classes in Petal, Columbia, Poplarville, Picayune,
Prentiss and Waveland. For information, telephone 601 554-5551 or 228-467-4275 in Hancock County.
