Clinton wins showchoir competition hosted by PRCC
HATTIESBURG - Clinton High School’s showchoir, Attache, was named grand champion at the Mississippi Showchoir Contest hosted by Pearl River Community College on Feb. 5 and 6.
Attache also placed first in Class AAA competition and was honored for Best Vocals, Best Visual Effect and Best Show Design. Directors are David and Mary Fehr.
Runners-up for the grand champion title were Impact from Pascagoula High School, first; Imagination from West Jones High School, second; Reveillon from Jackson Prep, third; and Gold Horizons from Northeast Jones High School, fourth.
The grand champion soloist award went to Clint Pride of Jackson Prep. The middle school solo winner was Brooke MacKenzie of Columbia Academy.

Middle School Class A - Showtimer from Petal Middle School, first; New Edition from Pearl River Central Middle School, second; Variations from South Forrest Attendance Center, third.
Middle School Class AA - Ambassadors from Clinton Junior High School, first; Exclusive from Columbia Academy, second; Infusion from South Jones Middle School, third.
High School Class A - Legacy from Sumrall High School, first; Orange Sensations from Wayne County High School, second; Entourage from Stone High School, third.
High School Class AA - Impact from Pascagoula High School, first; Reveillon from Jackson Prep, second; Centerstage from Oak Grove High School, third.
High School Class AAA - Attache from Clinton High School, first; Imagination from West Jones High School, second; Gold Horizons from Northeast Jones High School, third.
Women’s Division - Sassy from West Jones High School, first; Renaissance from Northwest Rankin High School, second; Synergy from Brookwood, Ala., High School.
PRCC’s showchoir chose Reveillon from Jackson Prep and Legacy from Sumrall to receive the RiverRoad Award, signifying the choirs were easy to work with and encouraging to other competitors.
Judges for the contest, held at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, were choreographer Katie DiCicco of Dallas, John Flanery, assistant choral director at the University of Southern Mississippi; Dr. Jonathan Kilgore, director of choral activities at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jackson County Campus; Dr. Mark Malone, dean of Winters School of Music at Carey; and Broadway performer Timothy Shew.
