PRCC to host high school musicians

POPLARVILLE - Two bands comprised of top high school musicians from 30 South Mississippi schools will be presented in concert at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pearl River Community College.
The concert marks the conclusion of the annual Pearl River Community College Band Clinic.
The musicians will be divided into two bands and will practice Friday and Saturday under the direction of Zachary Harris, band director at Gulfport High School, and Wilson Wise, band director at Poplarville High School.
The clinic began in the 1950s as the Lumberton Band Clinic and is the oldest annual clinic in the state, said Archie Rawls, chairman of the PRCC Department of Fine Arts and Communication. The clinic has been held at PRCC since 1991.
The PRCC Symphonic Band will perform for the students at 6 p.m. Friday, and the PRCC Jazz Cats will perform at 12 p.m. Saturday.
All performances will be in Olivia Bender Cafeteria in Crosby Hall.
