 Wilson Was Rock Solid Wildcat
River  wins  State Title In 1970
 
    Dennis Wilson knew he had a huge responsibility resting on his shoulder pads when he started his second season with Pearl River's Wildcats in the fall of 1970..
  Wilson was earmarked to take over the starting quarterback duties for Coach John Russell's defending state champion team, which posted an undefeated 9-0 record  the previous season.
    A 5-11, 160-pound sophomore out of North Forrest High School, Wilson had backed-up All-Stater Steve Worrell in 1969...a season that saw the Wildcats win their 12th state championship...more

Nationally known motivational speaker tells high school students to ask for help

    Jason Dorsey, 21, told a group of Purvis High School students that the road to achieving one's goal is not always a clear-cut path.  Barriers may get in the way, so he discussed some common obstacles students may encounter, such as fear of rejection, lack of confidence, financial problems and troubled family backgrounds.
    Dorsey, a senior in the business honors program at the University of Texas, spoke to students at five high schools within Pearl River Community College's six-county district as part of PRCC's Tech Prep program to provide career guidance for local high school students...more

Hall Of Famer Garland Parish Known As 'Mr. Consistency' By Wildcat Teammates
A Two-Sport Stand-out At Pearl River, Parish Excelled In Basketball And Baseball

    Garland Parish says Pearl River Community College is "the greatest place I've ever been," but on October 30 he will officially go down in history as one of the greatest athletes to ever play at Mississippi's pioneer junior college.
    Parish, a Sandy Hook resident, was a two-sport Standout basketball and baseball at PRCC from 1950 until 1952 and his accomplishments on the hardcourt and diamond have earned him a place in the college's Sports Hall of Fame. Dub "Paw Paw" Herring will receive PRCC's 1999 Distinguished Service Award
 
    W. B. "Dub" Herring, better known as "Paw Paw" across the Gulf Coast region, will receive the Pearl River Community College Distinguished Service Award during homecoming activities Saturday, October 30.
    Over the past six years, Herring has  served as auctioneer of the PRCC Development Foundation's River Extravaganza, raising more than $332,000 with the net proceeds going toward student...more

Bill Davis' 50-year "love affair" with Pearl River will be highlighted during homecoming activities

    W. M. "Bill" Davis has always loved Pearl River College.
    From the first time the Bassfield High School graduate enrolled at  PRC in January 1948 until he served on the board of trustees in 1992, to the last two years as president of the Marion and Jefferson Davis Alumni Association, Davis has been a huge supporter of Pearl River College.

Lori  Flynt will be crowned 1999 Homeccoming Queen 

    Lori Elizabeth Flynt, the daughter of Greg and Liz Flynt of Picayune, will be crowned Queen of Pearl River Community College's Homecoming here Saturday, October 30.
    The sophomore mathematics major, who graduated from Picayune Memorial High School with honors, is a member of the Lady Wildcats tennis and soccer teams,  and was elected Freshman Favorite and Freshman Maid. She is also a member of the PRCC Iota Mu Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa.
