Wildcats Open South Play With Win Over Bobcats
PRCC Fourth-Quarter Rally Ends Jones 18-Game Winning Streak With 20-15 South Division Victory

     ELLISVILLE   Pearl River Community College rallied from a 15-point fourth-quarter
deficit here Saturday to take a 20-15 upset victory over defending state champion Jones and end
the nationally-ranked Bobcats' 18-game winning streak.
     The contest opened the 1999 South Division schedules for both squads. Pearl River
improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the division, while Jones, ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA poll, fell

    POPLARVILLE - A fall festival on Thursday, one-mile fun run on Friday, student government qualifying, and the annual `Cat Fight" with Jones in Ellisville Saturday highlight the week's activities for Pearl River Community College students.

Pearl River Community College receives COPS grant

    Pearl River Community College has been awarded a $65,727 COPS grant under the U.S. Department of Justice's Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program.

Copiah-Lincoln here Tuesday in South Division soccer action.
     The Lady Wildcats recorded a 10-0 shutout for their first-ever victory, while the Wildcats

Wildcats Need Win Badly, Says Daniels

POPLARVILLE   Pearl River Community College's Wildcats host the Mississippi Delta
Trojans in non-division football action here Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Dobie Holden Stadium.
     Both are winless at 0-2 and hope to get on a winning track as they open division play next
week. PRCC fell to Itawamba 27-16 in its season opener on the road, then East Mississippi
defeated the Wildcats 35-3 last Thursday in Poplarville. Mississippi Delta fell to Mississippi Gulf
Coast 53-47 in five overtimes to open its season, then were pounded by Hinds 41-28 last week...more

Pearl River Drops To 0-2 With Miss. Delta Waiting In The Wings

     POPLARVILLE   East Mississippi RB Sammy Brooks rushed to 124 yards on 21
carries to lead the Lions to a 35-3 non-division victory over the Pearl River Wildcats here
Thursday in Dobie Holden Stadium.
     EMCC improved to 1-1, while PRCC fell to 0-2. Next Thursday, the Lions host East
Central in Scooba and the Wildcats host Mississippi Delta.

     POPLARVILLE   Pearl River Community College starting QB Travis Cunningham will
not play against the East Mississippi Lions here Thursday, as the 6-3, 205-pound sophomore
sprained his medial collateral ligament in last week's season opener against Itawamba.

Indians Drop Wildcats 27-16 In Opener

     FULTON   Pearl River Community College fell 27-16 to the Itawamba Indians here
Thursday to kickoff the 1999 football season for both squads.
     The Indians showed plenty of offensive punch, compiling 432 yards of total offense 
250 in the first half behind RBs Allen Copeland and Billy Blanchard, who managed 164 and
