Course Number Course Title Course Description
MAT1234 Intermediate Algebra. (4) Prerequisite: High School Algebra (one unit with grade of "C" or better) and an ACT mathematics subtest score of 16 or below. The topics include linear equations and their graphs; inequalities and number line graphs; rational expressions; factoring; laws of exponents; radicals; polynomials. Four semester hours (institutional credit). Students who finish MAT 1234 would move to MAT 1313. Students enrolled in a course redesign MAT 1234 will meet two class periods per week in the classroom and two hours in the Math Lab.
MAT1314 College Algebra. (4) Prerequisite: A score of 17-18 on the mathematics portion of the Enhanced ACT and High School Algebra (two units with grade of "C" or better) or MAT 1234 with grade of "C" or better.

This course includes inequalities; functions; linear and quadratic equations, circles, and their graphs; rational, radical, and higher order equations; applications; polynomial and rational functions; logarithmic and exponential functions; systems of equations. Four semester hours credit. MAT 1314 will include review material from Intermediate Algebra. Students enrolled in a course redesign MAT 1314 will meet two class periods per week in the classroom and two hours in the Math Lab.

MAT1313 College Algebra. (3) Prerequisite: A score of 19 on the mathematics portion of the Enhanced ACT and High School Algebra (two units with grade of "C" or better) or MAT 1234 with grade of "C" or better. This course includes inequalities; functions; linear and quadratic equations, circles, and their graphs; rational, radical, and higher order equations; applications; polynomial and rational functions; logarithmic and exponential functions; systems of equations. Three semester hours credit. Students enrolled in a course redesign MAT 1313 will meet one class period per week in the classroom and two hours in the Math Lab.
MAT1323 Trigonometry. (3) Prerequisite: A score of 21-24 on the mathematics portion of the Enhanced ACT and High School Algebra (two units with grade of "C" or better) or MAT 1313 or MAT 1314 This course includes trigonometric functions and their graphs; functions of composite angles; fundamental relations; trigonometric equations; radian measurement; solutions of right and oblique triangles; inverse trigonometric functions; applications.
MAT1343 Pre-Calculus. (3) Prerequisite: A score of 21 on the mathematics portion of the Enhanced ACT or College Algebra with a grade of "C" or better. A review of college algebra and trigonometry in preparation for Calculus I. Topics include functions; solving equations; logarithmic and exponential functions; trigonometric functions; solving trigonometric equations.
MAT1513 Business Calculus I. (3) Prerequisite: A score of 25 or higher on the mathematics portion of the Enhanced ACT or MAT 1323 or MAT 1343 with a grade of "C" or better. A study of functions, limits, continuity, derivatives, and their applications to business and economics.
MAT1613 Calculus I. (3) Prerequisite: A score of 25 on the mathematics portion of the Enhanced ACT or Pre-Calculus or Trigonometry with a grade of "C" or better. This course includes the following topics: limits; continuity; differentiation of transcendental functions; the definition of the derivative; differentiation; applications; anti-derivatives.
MAT1623 Calculus II. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 1613 with a grade of "C" or better. This course includes the following topics: the definite integral; integration of transcendental functions; techniques of integration; parametric equations; improper integrals; applications.
MAT1723 The Real Number System. (Mathematics for Elementary Teachers). (3) Prerequisite: MAT 1313 with a grade of "C" or better. This course is designed for elementary and special education majors and includes the following topics: problem solving, sets, whole numbers and whole number operations, number systems and operations including different bases and contributions from diverse cultures, number theory, integers and integer operations.
MAT1733 Geometry, Measurement and Probability. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 1723 with a grade of "C" or better. This course is designed for elementary and special education majors and includes the following topics: problem solving; geometric definitions, shapes, and formulas; linear and angular measurements; unit conversions; statistics and probability.
MAT2113 Introduction to Linear Algebra. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 1623 This course includes the following topics: systems of linear equations; matrices; vector spaces; determinants; linear transformation; eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
MAT2323 Statistics. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 1313 or MAT 1323 or MAT 1513 or MAT 1613 Introduction to statistical methods of describing, summarizing, comparing, and interpreting data to include probability distributions, sampling, estimation, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing.
MAT2613 Calculus III. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 1623 with a grade of "C" or better. This course includes the following topics: analytical geometry; analytical geometry; polar coordinates; infinite series; vector calculus; quadratic surfaces.
MAT2623 Calculus IV. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 2613 with a grade of "C" or better. This course includes the following topics: partial differentiation; multiple integration; vector valued functions; vector fields; line integrals; applications.
MAT2913 Differential Equations. (3) Prerequisite: MAT 2613 This course includes the following topics: solutions of first and higher order differential equations; existence theorems; solutions by series, and applications to problems in geometry, physics, and chemistry.
