Pearl River’s Rimmer named All-Region 23, All-MACJC

            POPLARVILLE — Pearl River Community College guard Xavian Rimmer and center Frank Snow have received post-season honors for the 2012-2013 basketball season.
            Rimmer, a 6-foot-2, 185 pound Alcorn State transfer who prepped at Piney Woods School near Jackson; earned All-Region 23 and All-MACJC first-team honors; while Snow, a 6-foot-9 San Angelina CC (Tex.) transfer from Wellington, Fla., earned All-MACJC second-team accolades.
            Rimmer, who was named the SWAC’s “Freshman of the Year” during the 2011-2012 season in Lorman, averaged 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals a game for the MACJC state champion Wildcat squad.
            Snow averaged 10 points and a team-high nine boards during the season.
            Twentieth-ranked Pearl River wrapped its season at 23-5 overall with its 89-81 semi-final loss to Northwest Mississippi in last week’s Region 23 Tournament played in A.E. Wood Coliseum on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton.
            Rimmer finished his season strong, scoring 17 points and hauling in eight rebounds in PRCC’s 64-62 quarter-final win over Southern-Shreveport in the regionals and a game-high 25 points (two treys, three assists, two steals) in the Northwest loss.
            Pearl River’s men’s championship marked the school’s sixth in head coach Richard Mathis’ 22 years at the Wildcat helm.
