PERKINSTON — Eighth-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast swept Pearl River’s Lady Wildcats in MACJC South Division softball action here Wednesday on Ross-Smith Field, taking a 10-2 victory in the opening game of the twin bill before winning 7-3 in the nightcap game.
PRCC dropped to 21-17 overall and 10-10 in division play, while MGCCC improved to 28-7 and a division-leading 17-3.
DECATUR — Pearl River’s Lady Wildcats remain one game behind East Central in fourth place in the MACJC South Division softball derby after splitting with the host Lady Warriors in a make up doubleheader here Monday.
PRCC’s 10-hit effort in Monday’s first game resulted in an 8-6 victory, but ECCC rebounded with a 5-0 shutout win in the nightcap.
The Lady Wildcats are now 21-15 overall and 10-8 in division play, while the third-place Lady Warriors are 27-11 and 11-7.
POPLARVILLE — Pearl River’s Lady Wildcats split with Copiah-Lincoln’s Lady Wolfpack in MACJC South Division doubleheader softball action here Saturday, falling 5-4 in the first game before bombing their visitors 6-1 in the nightcap.
PRCC is now 20-14 overall and 9-7 in division play following the split, while CLCC is 19-15-1 and 6-12.
In the Lady Wildcats’ loss, Co-Lin jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never relinquished the lead.
ELLISVILLE — Pearl River’s Lady Wildcats dropped an 8-0 decision to fourth-ranked host Jones County in the opening game of an MACJC South Division softball doubleheader here Tuesday before bouncing back with a 6-5, nine-inning victory in the nightcap game.
PRCC is now 19-13 overall and 8-6 in division play, while JCJC is 25-5 and 10-4.
Lady Bobcat starter Samantha Buller (15-1) hurled a one-hitter in the first contest, giving up a single to Megan Scronce of Petal High in the third inning. She struck out four and walked one.
Pearl River Community College pitcher Neely McCrary, a sophomore out of Petal High School, has been named the MACJC Pitcher of the Week (March 31-April 7) after posting a perfect 2-0 weekly mark. McCrary gave up just one run in 13 innings of mound work with a 4-1 victory over Baton Rouge (La.) and 9-0 MACJC South Division victory over Southwest Mississippi.
MCCOMB — Pearl River committed a whopping eight errors in a 6-5, nine-inning MACJC South Division softball loss to host Southwest Mississippi here Saturday before the Lady Wildcats rebounded with an 9-0, error-free shutout in six innings over the Lady Bears in the nightcap contest here Saturday.
PRCC improved to 18-12 overall and 7-5 in division play with the split, while SMCC is now 16-16 and 6-8.
BATON ROUGE, La. — Pearl River split with Baton Rouge CC (La.) in doubleheader softball action here Monday, taking a hard-fought 4-2 victory in the first game before falling 4-3 in a 12-inning marathon in the nightcap.
The Lady Wildcats are now sport a 17-12 overall record, while the host Lady Bears are 20-21-1.
In the first game, the first two innings were scoreless before each PRCC scored a solo run in the top of the third only to see BRCC answer with its only run in the bottom of the frame.
POPLARVILLE — Pearl River split with Baton Rouge CC (La.) in doubleheader softball action here Tuesday, winning the first game 7-1 before getting steam rolled 11-2 in the nightcap.
The host Lady Wildcats are now 16-11 overall, while the Lady Bears are 19-18-1.
RAYMOND — The River definitely rolled here Thursday, as the Lady Wildcats bombarded Hinds’ Lady Eagles with a pair of lopsided MACJC South Division victories.
PRCC won the first game of the doubleheader 17-3 in six innings before bouncing back with a 13-0 shutout victory in five frames — both via the eight-run rule — to improve to 15-10 overall and 6-4 in division play. HCC dropped to 4-20 and remain winless in division play at 0-8.
POPLARVILLE — Mississippi Gulf Coast remains perfect at 8-0 in MACJC South Division play, as the Lady Bulldogs swept Pearl River 4-2 and 10-8 in doubleheader softball action here Tuesday in Lady Wildcat Stadium.
With the losses, PRCC dropped to 13-10 overall and 4-4 in division play; while MGCCC improved to 19-4.
