POPLARVILLE - The art work of three Pearl River Community College sophomores is on display through Friday, May 4, at the Poplarville campus.The works of Meghan Penton of Poplarville, Amanda Wells of Sumrall and Matthew Fillingane of Purvis are displayed on the first floor of Moody Hall.Penton, who will graduate later this year, has been accepted for the spring 2013 semester at the prestigious Savannah College of Art in Georgia. She will concentrate her studies on animation.The focus is on 3D-animation so I hope to eventually get hired by an animation studio, she said.The daughter of Cynthia Penton of Poplarville, she has been exposed to a wide range of media while studying with PRCC art instructor Charleen Null.My favorite is drawing and painting, but I dabble in a lot of things, she said. I like jewelry making and photography.Wells, the daughter of Craig and Patty Wells of Sumrall, will graduate in May. She is exhibiting drawings and paintings although she also enjoys photograph and jewelry making.I really love everything, she said. Ive been drawing forever, but I never really painted until I got here.She plans to pursue a career in cosmetology.Fillingane will study art at the University of Southern Mississippi after graduating from PRCC in May.Ive been wanting to create manga, which is anime style comics, he said.So far, he prefers working with oil paint.They colors are easy to mix and use and I can blend them very well, he said.Fillingane is the son of Catherine Lynn Brooks of Lumberton and John Timothy Fillingane of Petal.The public is invited to view their works from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in Moody Hall.
