Registration for the fall semester at Pearl River Community College''s Forrest County Center will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, and Monday, Aug. 9.Students should go to the multi-purpose room in Building 5 at 5448 U.S. 49 South in Hattiesburg.Class schedules for the fall semester have changed to better accommodate working students, said Susan Donohue, director of general education."All of the major classes are offered as Monday-Wednesday classes and Tuesday-Thursday classes," she said. "We are offering some Friday classes that run like night classes. They are three hours. We''ve done away with the 50-minute classes and put in their place 75-minute classes or three-hour classes. A student could possibly come three days a week and get a full 12 hours."Early indications are that the new schedule will be a success, she said."The counselors tell me the students love it," Donohue said.Another change in the schedule is designed for students who need to drop a class but don''t want to lose credit hours."We are offering four classes that we call late start classes," Donohue said. "They start Sept. 28 and end when regular classes end in December. They meet three days a week for longer periods of time."Tuition for full-time students taking a minimum of 12 hours is $1,000 per semester. Additional fees are charged for some labs and programs.Day and night classes begin Monday, Aug. 16.Admission requirements for new students include a completed PRCC application for admission, official high school transcript showing date of graduation or GED score report, ACT score report and transcripts from any other colleges attended. For more information, telephone the Forrest County Center admissions office at 601 554-5519 or the Forrest County Center counseling center at 601 554-5493 or visit the PRCC Website at www.prcc.edu.
