ELLISVILLE - Pearl River Community College split with Jones County in MACJC women''s and men''s South Division soccer action here Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats suffered their first defeat of the 2010 season with a 1-0 setback to the Lady Bobcats, while the Wildcats remain undefeated after rallying in the second half to take a 2-1 victory.PRCC''s women are now 4-1 overall and 1-1 in division play, while its men are 6-0 and 2-0. JCJC''s women improved to 4-1-1 and 1-1, while its men dropped to 2-5 and 0-2.In women''s action, Danica Roberts booted one home in the final five minutes of the first half to propel the Lady Bobcats to victory.Second-year PRCC head coach Jack Byrd said his women''s unit, the defending South Division and state champions, played a lackluster game."I''m not taking anything away from Jones, but our girls have played that way the last couple of games," Byrd said. "But we''ll rebound. You just can''t play complacently against a team the caliber of JCJC."It was an eye opener for us."In the men''s game, Jones County''s Nick Peden scored in the opening nine minutes of the contest to put the Bobcats up 1-0, but freshman midfielder Jacob Foulon of Pearl River Central knotted things up with a goal some 18 minutes before the intermission. That stalemate remained intact until freshman midfielder Curtis Sangbarani of Aberdeen, Scotland, kicked in the game-winning goal at the 19:05 mark of the second half.Peden had an opportunity to put the Bobcats up some eight minutes earlier, but missed on a penalty kick. After a six-day layoff, North foe Hinds visits PRCC Monday, Sept. 20, for 2 p.m. (women) and 5 p.m. (men) non-division games, then it''s back to South Division play when Copiah-Lincoln visits Wednesday, Sept. 22, for 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men) contests.
