Important Details Regarding the Day of the Graduation Ceremonies
Two graduation ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 7th, 2021.
- The first ceremony will begin at 9:30a.m. and will include graduates of a career or technical program, including our allied health programs.
- The second ceremony will begin at 2:30p.m. and will include graduates earning Associate in Arts degrees.
If you have any doubt about which ceremony you should attend, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The ceremonies will be held at the Dobie Holden Stadium (football stadium), located at 101 Hwy 11 North in Poplarville, MS 39470. This is an outdoor venue. While holding the ceremony outdoors during the day is not ideal, this allows individuals to safely socially distance.
Graduates will be limited to 4 guests per graduate. Additional tickets will not be offered due to capacity limitations as a result of COVID-19. All guests, including children of any age, will require a ticket. To avoid group gatherings, guests should not arrive more than an hour and a half before each ceremony. For those who cannot attend the ceremony in person, the ceremony will be live-streamed and available on the homepage of PRCC.edu at the time of the ceremony.
Graduates will be given their guest tickets on the day of the ceremony, at graduation check-in. Graduates should coordinate their arrival with their guests to ensure that they can hand off their guest tickets prior to entering the stadium for assembly.
Assembly and Line-up
- 9:30a.m. Ceremony – Graduates should arrive no earlier than 8:00a.m. and should check-in no later than 8:45a.m. (Graduates must be on time.)
- 2:30p.m. Ceremony – Graduates should arrive no earlier than 1:00p.m. and should check-in no later than 1:45p.m. (Graduates must be on time.)
Graduate check-in will be located at the stadium ticket booth. Graduates will show a picture ID (school ID, driver’s license, state ID, etc.) to check-in to the ceremony. After check-in, graduates will hand off their guest tickets and follow directions to enter the stadium’s end zone for assembly. Graduates will be escorted to their seats as quickly as possible to maintain social distancing.
Graduates must arrive with their cap and gown, ordered from the link provided above. Extras are not available at the ceremony and the cap and gown must be worn to participate in the ceremony.
Other than the cap and gown, there will be no specific dress code. We recommend that graduates dress thoughtfully, as it will likely be a warm day. Outfits under the cap and gown should be appropriate and should follow the PRCC dress code. Graduates will be walking on dirt, grass, and turf, so choose shoes accordingly.
Honors Cords and Stoles
Students that qualify for honors recognition will be provided, at no charge, cords or stoles at graduation check-in. Students with a degree GPA of 3.40 – 3.79 will receive honors recognition and will be provided with a double honors cord. Students with a degree GPA of 3.80 – 4.00 will receive special honors recognition and will be provided with a special honors stole.
During the ceremony, a picture will be taken of each graduate. On the day of graduation, you will complete a card with your contact information. This card will be used to call your name at the ceremony and to identify you to the photographer. Approximately five days after the ceremony, you will be notified regarding purchasing your pictures online.
During the Ceremony
Faculty and Staff will be in strategic locations directing graduates when to sit/stand.
Awarding of Diplomas
An empty diploma cover will be used during the ceremony to convey that a degree has been awarded. To avoid the spread of germs, graduates will not be handed a diploma cover during the ceremony. Graduates will pose next to a diploma cover held by Dr. Adam Breerwood for a picture and recognition during the ceremony, but graduates will not touch or be handed the diploma cover.
After the Ceremony
Diplomas will not be issued at the ceremony. Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 graduates will have already received their diplomas in the mail. Spring 2021 graduates will receive their diplomas, by mail, a few weeks after the ceremony.

Safety Measures and Precautions
PRCC will follow CDC recommendations in order to offer a safe ceremony for graduates and guests. In addition to the precautions mentioned above, PRCC has ensured that the venue selected allows for social distancing, that surfaces will be disinfected as often as possible, and that antibacterial stations will be available throughout the venue. PRCC recommends the use of face masks while on campus.
Weather conditions will be closely monitored by PRCC personnel. In the event of a weather system that may impact the ceremony, PRCC will post up-to-date information on social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
