Articulation Agreement
between the
Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning
and the
Mississippi State Board for Community and Junior Colleges

The Articulation Agreement that exists between the the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) and the Mississippi State Board for Community and Junior Colleges (SBCJC) is in place to provide a smooth transition for students between the community colleges in the state and the public four-year institutions.

The following guidelines are designed to aide students determine which classes can be taken at the community college during the freshman and sophomore year.

  1. Open the Articulation Agreement.
  2. Scroll through the Table of Contents (pages i - vi) to locate a particular major. (Page numbers are located at the bottom of each page in the document.)
  3. Determine the actual page number of the major.
  4. Scroll to that particular page to read the course requirements.

Example:

  • The major Computer Science is listed on page ii of the Articulation Agreement. Looking across, it is noted that information about Computer Science is on page 59.
  • Scrolling to page 59 of the document reveals the list of courses that should be taken during the freshman and sophomore year at Pearl River if a student wishes to be a Computer Science major and then transfer to one of the four-year institutions in the State.
  • Special information is provided at the bottom of the page that indicates any specific requirements that each institution may have. In addition, there is a list of the universities that have a degree for that particular major.
