Wildcats' Cornish signs with Delta State

POPLARVILLE – Veteran men’s basketball coach Richard Mathis will have one more vacancy on his roster at Pearl River Community College following the departure of sophomore John Cornish.

Cornish, a 6-foot-4 guard, decided to sign with NCAA Division II Delta State after one season with the Wildcats, and he will play as a sophomore this season with the Statesmen.

“Their program is well-built and headed in the right direction,” said Cornish of DSU. “They compete for a national championship every year. I liked the campus coming out of high school, and it’s close to home.”
