ELLISVILLE --- Sixth-ranked and division-leading Jones County swept Pearl River in MACJC South Division softball action here Friday in Community Bank Park, taking a 6-5 come-from-behind victory in the first game before dominating the visiting Lady Wildcats 9-1 in five innings in the nightcap.
With the wins, JCJC improved to 36-2 overall and 22-2 in division play, while PRCC dropped to 22-14 and 16-8.

In the first game, Jones went up 1-0 in the bottom of the opening inning when C.C. Lawn drew a lead off walk, stole second, and scored an out later off Tori Dews’ single. Lauren Holifield then reached on the first of three errors by Pearl River, but Brittany Seale hit into a double play to end the inning.
PRCC answered with a three-run effort in the top of the second. Kaci Lantrip of Terry High got The River rolling when she smacked a one-out single to left and tied the score when Rachel Hickman of Poplarville High tripled off an error. Hick then retired three straight with runners at second and third to end the inning.
But the Lady Wildcats regained the lead in the top of the fourth when lead off Warr reached on an error and Holloway outran a bunt for a base hit. The runners advanced off Flint’s sac bunt and Boutwell cracked a two-run single an out later to make it 5-3 before Emily Jackson of Theodore (Ala.) High grounded out.             The Lady Wildcats managed two base runners in the top of the fifth off a one-out single by Ashley Hawkins of Theodore (Ala.) High and a walk by Rachel Breland of Poplarville High, but the game ended via the eight-run rule JCJC retired Scronce and Boutwell.
