Lady Wildcats improve to 2-0 with win at Delgado

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College made it two straight wins to open the 2017-18 season with a 72-41 victory over Delgado Saturday at New Orleans.

The Lady Wildcats (2-0) got balanced scoring, with four players in double figures, led by sophomore Kyla Malone (Oxford) with 12 points.

Sophomores Charisma Walker (Brandon) and Tariah Mouton (Meridian), and freshman Shauntelle Adams (Brandon) each added 11 points. Walker had a team-high 8 rebounds, and freshman Gabby Brown (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) had 5 assists.

PRCC jumped out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter and extended its lead to 44-23 at halftime. The Lady Wildcats converted 9 of 22 shots from 3-point range.

The Lady Wildcats return home to face the Louisiana College junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
