Lady Wildcats no match for No. 6 Jones County

POPLARVILLE – NJCAA sixth-ranked Jones County showed why it’s a Top 10 team Saturday afternoon, running over Pearl River Community College 92-61 in women’s junior college basketball action at Ellisville.
 
The Lady Wildcats dropped to 7-4 overall and 1-3 in the South Division. JCJC improved to 11-2 and 4-0.
 
PRCC scored the first basket of the game to lead 2-0, but the Lady Bobcats scored the next 10 points to take a 12-2 lead and never looked back. Jones led 23-13 after the first quarter and 44-25 at halftime.
 
Sophomore Charisma Walker (Brandon)  scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead Pearl River. Freshman Gabby Brown (Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.) added 12 points, and sophomore Tyasia Willis had 8 points and 8 rebounds.
 
Pearl River will be back on the road Monday night at East Central. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PRCC will return home Thursday to face Mississippi Gulf Coast.
