Lady Wildcats rebound with victory at Bishop State

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College rebounded from its first loss of the season by getting past Bishop State (Ala.) 60-55 in women’s basketball action Thursday night at Mobile, Ala.

Redshirt sophomore Rah Franklin (New Orleans) had a breakout game, scoring 27 points to lead the Lady Wildcats (5-1). Franklin was 6 of 12 shooting from 3-point range, and added 4 rebounds.

Pearl River led 17-9 after the first quarter, and Franklin hit a trey at the buzzer to end the first half with 16 points and give the Lady Wildcats a 30-24 halftime advantage. PRCC converted its last four shots in the final minute of the fourth quarter to keep Bishop State (2-7) at bay.

Sophomore Charisma Walker (Brandon) had 9 rebounds to lead the Lady Wildcats on the glass.

Pearl River opens South Division play in its final game before the extended Christmas next Monday against Meridian at M.R. White Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and the game will be livestreamed on
