Northeast holds on to spoil homecoming at Pearl River 26-23

Doss connected with Cameron Montgomery for a 13-yard play on third-and-9, then a face mask call gave the Tigers a critical first down after it appeared the Wildcats had made a stop.

Walker then finished it off with a 9-yard run on fourth down with 22 seconds to play.

The Wildcats will close out the season Thursday night at home against East Central.

Wildcats host Northeast for homecoming in non-division battle

POPLARVILLE – After a short week of preparation leading into a disheartening defeat, Pearl River Community College hopes a well-timed break will be beneficial as it approaches the end of the 2015 junior college football season.
The Wildcats will entertain Northeast Mississippi on Saturday for their annual homecoming festivities, following a 41-10 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast this past Thursday at Perkinston. Kickoff at Dobie Holden Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Gulf Coast rides dominant first half to 41-10 victory over Pearl River

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast scored touchdowns on all five of its possessions in the first half, and the Bulldogs cruised to a 41-10 victory over Pearl River Thursday in a South Division game at A.L. May Stadium.

The seventh-ranked Bulldogs won their fifth consecutive game to improve to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the division, and clinched a berth in the MACJC playoffs. PRCC dropped to 2-5 and 1-4 and was officially eliminated from any playoff consideration.

Wildcats take on Mississippi Gulf Coast in key South Division battle

POPLARVILLE – One would think that a coach would have a tough time getting his players back down to earth after one of his team’s biggest victories in several years.
But William Jones and his Pearl River Wildcats didn’t need much motivation to put last week’s 17-9 upset of then-No. 1-ranked Copiah-Lincoln in the rearview mirror with a date against Mississippi Gulf Coast looming.

Wildcats face top-ranked Co-Lin in Saturday division contest

POPLARVILLE – Coming off a tough loss last week, Pearl River Community College faces arguably its most difficult task of the 2015 season, a trip to face the No. 1 team in the NJCAA rankings.
The Wildcats will square off against undefeated Copiah-Lincoln on Saturday in a South Division game. Kickoff at H.L. Stone Stadium is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
“They’re No. 1 for a reason,” said PRCC coach William Jones.

Pearl River drops last-minute heartbreaker to Southwest 31-27

POPLARVILLE – It was a heartbroken group of Wildcats that walked off the field at Dobie Holden Stadium Thursday night after Pearl River dropped a 31-27 decision to Southwest in a South Division clash.

Justin Blue scored on a 1-yard run with 15 seconds remaining in the game to give the Bears the come-from-behind victory in a see-saw battle.

Pearl River lost its fourth consecutive game, falling to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the division. Southwest improved to 2-3 and 1-2.

Wildcats return home to battle Southwest in South Division contest

POPLARVILLE – It will be a battered and bruised Pearl River Wildcat football team that will return home this week to take on Southwest Mississippi in a South Division contest.
Kickoff Thursday at Dobie Holden Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. as the Wildcats pass the halfway point in the 2015 campaign.
PRCC (1-3 overall, 0-2 division) has lost three straight and is coming off a 34-6 defeat at the hands of Jones County last week in the annual Cat Fight.
“We had some good practices this week,” said Pearl River coach William Jones.
