Pearl River trio named to men’s soccer All-Region 23 Team

POPLARVILLE – Three members of the Pearl River Community College men’s soccer team were selected to the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team, announced Monday by the MACJC.
Forwards Chance Bourdene and Romar Smith were chosen from the four-time MACJC state champion Wildcats, along with goalkeeper Grant Adam.
Bourdene, a sophomore from Northwest Rankin who was voted as team captain at the start of the season, tallied 11 goals and 11 assists. Smith, a sophomore from Gulfport, led the Wildcats with 13 goals and had seven assists.
Adam, a sophomore from Waveland who played for Bay High, had 36 saves in 15 games before going down with season-ending injury late in the season.
Bourdene and Smith will participate in the MACJC All-Star Game Saturday at Ridgeland, along with fellow Wildcat sophomores Trevor Krol and Austin Ladner.
Also playing in the women’s MACJC All-Star game are Lady Wildcat standouts Lyndsey Lee, Sarah Fortenberry, Hailey Furlan and Sarah Daniels. Kickoff for the women’s game is scheduled for noon Saturday, with the men to follow at 2:30 p.m.
