PRCC to send eight players to MACJC All-Star Games

POPLARVILLE – Eight player from the Pearl River Community College soccer teams have been selected to play in the third annual MACJC Men’s and Women’s All-Star Game.
The games, presented by Holmes Community College, Mississippi Sports Medicine and Juco Weekly, will be played Nov. 14 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. The women’s game kicks off at noon, with the men’s game to follow at 2:30 p.m.
PRCC players on the South team in the women’s game are Lyndsey Lee, Sarah Fortenberry, Hailey Furlan and Sarah Daniels. Wildcat players in the men’s game are Chance Bourdene, Trevor Krol, Austin Ladner and Romar Smith.
The Lady Wildcats, ranked 18th in the nation in this week’s NJCAA poll, will take on top-ranked Eastern Florida State in the District H championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament at Melbourne, Fla.
The Pearl River men will be hosting San Jacinto, Texas, in the semifinals of the South Region Tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday. Hinds battles Tyler, Texas, in the other semifinal. The winners meet at 6 p.m. Sunday in the regional finals. All tournament games will be played at Picayune High School.
Both PRCC teams earned state titles this past weekend at Hinds Community College. The Lady Wildcats bested Jones County 3-1 to win its second consecutive championship, and the Wildcats followed with a 3-1 victory over Hinds for its fourth straight state crown.
