River’s Talley tagged by MACJC, NJCAA as ‘Player of The Week’

 Christian Tally           POPLARVILLE — Pearl River righthanded pitcher Christian Talley has been selected as ‘Player of the Week’ by the MACJC and NJCAA for his three-hit effort in the Wildcats’ 5-0 MACJC South Division victory over Jones County in Ellisville April 23.
            A Southern Miss signee, the Hancock County High recruit led The River, ranked ninth nationally in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, to back-to-back shutouts and a ninth-straight victory with his effort against the 19th-ranked Bobcats. PRCC has currently won 11 straight.
            Talley struck out nine JCJC batters in his dominating performance.
            Thus far in 2013, he is 7-4 overall and boasts a 3.53 earned-run average in 63.2 innings on the mound. In addition, he leads the Wildcat team with 62 strikeouts.
            Talley is the third Pearl River player to be selected state and national ‘Player of the Week’ in 2013. Catcher-slugger Krisjon Wilkerson out of St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis and infielder Kyle Dolan out of Forrest County AHS were the other honorees.
