PRCC is now 2-0 on the year, while MMI remains winless at 0-4.
In the first game, the Wildcats wasted little time getting on the scoreboard posting a solo run in the bottom of the first. Nathan Pugh of Starkville High belted a two-out single to right, stole second base, and scored off a base hit to left center by Jalen Haskin of Oak Grove High. Jacob Taylor of Picayune High flew out to right to end the inning.
The River padded its lead in the bottom of the second with a five-run barrage. Brumfield struck out Alex Reyna for the final out.
In the bottom of the inning, Pearl River pumped its lead to 10-1. Pugh got The River rolling with a one-out walk, stole second and third, and scored off Haskin’s single. Haskin reached second on a passed ball and scored off Taylor’s double to make it 8-1 before Garner was belted by a pitch, which prompted the mound exit of Tiger starter Joseph Hudson for Terrance Robinson. The Wildcats scored a ninth run off Dolan’s ground out to short.
Darien Brown of Hattiesburg High as then belted by a pitch, setting the stage for O’Hern’s RBI single to make it 10-1. Robinson hit Mount with a pitch to load the bases before Anthony struck out to end the inning.
