Wildcats clobber Capital City Prep 116-56

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College started strong and never let up, racing to a dominating 116-56 victory over Capital City Prep in men’s basketball action Tuesday night at M.R. White Coliseum.

The Wildcats (5-0) led by as many as 41 points in the first half, took a 63-26 lead into halftime, and increased their margin through the second half.

Freshman Cedric Brim Jr. (Tupelo) had a big night for PRCC, scoring 22 points to lead the Wildcats. Freshman Eric Thornton Jr. (Jackson) added 15 points and sophomore Ray Anderson (New Orleans) had 14 points.

Tyree Spurlock had 23 points for Capital City Prep. 

The Wildcats will hit the road for their next contest, Thursday against Bishop State at Mobile, Ala. Tipoff for the women’s game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with the men’s game to follow. Pearl River opens South Division play next Monday at home against Meridian.
