POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River celebrated its 2020 graduates with two socially distanced ceremonies Wednesday and Thursday night in Dobie Holden Stadium.
The first ceremony on July 29 included graduates of career or technical programs including allied health and nursing. The July 30 ceremony included graduates earning Associate in Arts degrees.
Throughout the ceremony, Breerwood honored several student groups such as Phi Theta Kappa, SkillsUSA, National Technical Honors Society and more by asking them to stand and be congratulated.
In line with Pearl River’s plans for the fall, chairs were spaced 6 feet apart on the field. PRCC employees wore masks and attendees were encouraged to wear masks and socially distance from one another. Students were allowed four tickets for their guests, to reduce capacity at the event. For those unable to attend, Pearl River live streamed both ceremonies; the videos are posted on PRCC’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Final remarks both nights were made by Breerwood just as rain started to sprinkle. The weather held off long enough for students to be congratulated one final time.
Anyone interested in joining the Wildcat family can visit PRCC.EDU to start the process. Pearl River will also be holding an Open Registration day Aug. 12-14. Registration will be held in the Technology Building on the Poplarville campus, Building 3 at the Forrest County Center and the main lobby of the Waveland Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Masks are required. In order to reduce the amount of congestion within buildings students can not bring guests with them to open registration.
Registration is open to both new and returning Wildcats.
