Pearl River Community College is excited to announce a robust slate of events that will highlight Homecoming next week.
The week-long celebration will culminate with the Thursday, Oct.7 football game against Holmes Community College and presentation of the Homecoming Court.
This year’s theme is “All Roads Lead Home.”
PRCC is delighted to have a variety of both alumni and student activities leading up to the game. Along with those activities, each day has a theme for outfit ideas for wearing on campus.
Most of the activities will be run by the Student Government Association and Student Activities Office.
Mood Monday encourages dressing for how you feel today.
Wildcat Olympics runs from noon to 3 p.m. where freshmen and sophomores compete in a series of events around campus. Sign up is in the Student Activities office in Crosby Hall before the event.
Dance Battle provides opportunities for individuals or groups. This will be held on the Crosby Patio facing the library from 6-9 p.m.
Tourist Tuesday can spark interesting takes on a “touristy” outfit. Big, outlandish hats and long socks with sandals are a great starting point.
A Fall Fest Pep Rally will be held in front of Crosby in the grassy area behind the Administration Building. This begins at 11:30 a.m. and will feature the Homecoming Court, The Spirit of the River band, String of Pearls dance team, Color Guard, Wildcat Cheerleaders, Coach Smith, and the Wildcat Football Team.
Color Run on campus goes from 2-4 p.m. Wear a white top and meet behind the Wellness Center at the walking track. Sunglasses or other eye protection is recommended as you well get wet and be dusted with color powder.
Kickball will be first-year students against sophomores at Student Activities Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.
White Lie Wednesday suggests putting a fun little lie about yourself on your shirt for all to see. Examples include “I am great at math” or “I love getting up at 5 a.m. every morning to run.” Creativity is encouraged.
Tie Dye fun will happen under the oaks at the outdoor courts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your own white shirt or buy one when you come.
Powder Puff Football will have freshmen versus sophomore ladies battle in a game of flag football. This will be at Student Activities Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday is Wildcat Spirit Day with everyone dressed in their best maroon and gold.
The Homecoming Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and will go from the Nursing building to the stadium. Homecoming Court members will be driven on golf carts. The Spirit of the River marching band, String of Pearls and Color Guard will also be participating.
Student Tailgate will be near the student section from 4 to 9 p.m. They will have face painting, sign making, music, food, and games.
Alumni Tailgating will be outside the stadium gates under the oaks prior to kickoff beginning at 5:30 p.m. Alumni are invited to arrive in time to witness the Homecoming Parade.
MUSEUM OPEN THURSDAY
The PRCC Museum will be open from 5-6:30 p.m. for any alumni or guests who wish to visit.
Gates at Dobie Holden Stadium open at 6 p.m., with the court presentation scheduled for around 6:25 p.m. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
