Personnel in the Office of Recruitment and Orientation work with
faculty and staff from all areas of campus to meet the needs of enrolled
and prospective students at Pearl River Community College. Special
services, programs, and activities on campus and a variety of programs
and activities off campus regarding the areas of recruitment, orientation,
retention, students activities, and intramurals are coordinated through
this office.
Recruitment
The recruitment of prospective students is also coordinated through this
office and includes a variety of planned activities. Special events
include Scholars Night, Career-Technical Education Day, and Counselors
Day on the Poplarville campus, and the Allied Health Tour Day at the Forrest
County Center.
High schools throughout the district are visited on a regular basis, and
PRCC representatives attend many college and career day/night programs,
awards days, and graduations. Campus tours for individuals and for
groups are arranged throughout the year, various classes visit the
campus and are given information regarding a variety of topics, and
appointments with faculty and staff are arranged as are meetings with campus
administrators. For information regarding campus tours, call Sherry
Brown at(601) 403-1197 or email sbrown@prcc.edu.
The PRCC Modeling Team is another special student group associated with
the Office of Recruitment and Orientation. The members have been
actively involved with special activities on campus and in the district,
appearing on local television and in the district malls. Scholarships
are available for these students. For additional information, call
Robin Jenkins at (601) 403-1327 or email rjenkins@prcc.edu.
Orientation
Orientation programs for all new students who plan to enroll in August
will be held in July. Each day includes a general assembly with PRCC
administrators, small group sessions, advisement, and registration.
Special sessions with PRCC administrators are planned for the parents of
the students. More than 1000 students and parents attended last year
in order to become more familiar with Pearl River Community College and
its program offerings. Sessions are also held in August on the main
campus and at the Forrest County Center.
