Madelyn S. Lee, Applied Piano - Applied Organ - Music Appreciation

Madelyn S. Lee joined the faculty of Pearl River Community College in 1984. A native of Poplarville, Ms. Lee earned the Bachelor of Music, with an emphasis in Piano and Organ, and the Master of Music Education degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi. At Pearl River, Ms. Lee currently teaches applied piano, a field in which she has over twenty-five years of experience. She also teaches class piano and music appreciation and has taught music theory classes.

Ms. Lee served as an officer for Mu Phi Epsilon, the National Woman's Music Fraternity, and as secretary for Delta Kappa Gamma, the National Women's Educational Honor Society. She has held the position of Pianist for the Chi Omega National Fraternity and is a member of the American Guild of Organists. Lee has also served as District Chair of Music for the Mississippi High School Activities Association. She is certified by the Mississippi Music Teacher's Association and the Music Teacher's National Association.

Since Madelyn Lee joined the PRCC faculty, the piano studio has grown in number from three in 1984 to over 30 students presently. Ms. Lee is widely considered one of the finest keyboard educators in the State of Mississippi and is actively sought to judge various piano festivals. Her students have consistently received superior ratings in competitions.

Ms. Lee also has a keen interest in the musical activities of the area. She has chaired the District 8 Piano competition on several occasions and currently serves as organist for First United Methodist Church in Poplarville.
