Auto Mechanics Technology

Did you know??

  • More than 30% of all cars are manufactured in the United States.

  • 90% of the U.S. population owns at least one automobile, and 55% of the U.S. population owns 2 or more automobiles.

  • Americans drive 2.2 trillion miles per year consuming 140 billion gallons of fuel.

  • Annually, motorists in the U.S. spend 100 billion dollars on auto insurance.  They also use 300 billion dollars of credit to purchase and maintain those automobiles.

  • Currently, there is a shortage of 60,000 automotive technicians and the number is constantly increasing.

PRCC students learn using the best equipment technology has to offer.

Today's automotive technician is a well paid, respected profession.  The average experienced technician can expect to earn from $30,000 to $60,000 annually.  An automotive technician can be employed in:

  • automotive dealerships

  • independent garages

  • service stations

  • large retail facilities

  • specialty centers

  • fleet garages

Since 1995 every graduate of the Auto Mechanics Technology program at Pearl River Community College has been placed in a job in the Auto Mechanics field, in a related field or has gone on to continue his or her education.
