The Construction Management
Technology Program is designed to prepare individuals for employment in
businesses and firms within the construction industry in mid-level management
operations as estimators, material specialists, planners, project managers,
layout specialists, or other construction operations. The program
provides instruction and study in the areas of construction materials,
surveying, cost estimating, on-site management and supervision, codes and
safety, and basic operations of the residential and commercial construction
industry. The student has the opportunity to gain on-site construction
management experience through the summer internship program in Construction
Management Technology.
The student will have the
option to pursue an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree which includes
fifteen semester hours of academic coursework in addition to the program
core courses or to pursue a Certificate of Proficiency which consists of
the program core courses.
Employment Outlook:
Good employment opportunities for mid-level management within the construction
industry are expected through 2012. Jobs are available in South Mississippi
and throughout the country. This area is home to many top-notch contractors
doing business in heavy, commercial, and residential construction.
Annual salaries will range from about $20,000 to $30,000 for those starting
in the business depending on the job description.
Admission Requirements:
Applicants for Construction
Management Technology must have the following documents submitted:
1. PRCC Application for
Admission;
2. An official transcript
from an accredited high school indicating date of graduation or GED transcript
indicating passing;
3. Official transcript from
every college attended (if applicable);
4. ACT scores (for students
pursing the AAS degree).
