

Cosmetologist Poplarville Campus
The Cosmetology Program is a one-year (three semesters) program of study designed to lead to a certificate of proficiency.
Instructional program provides a curriculum which includes theory, skills, and salon ethics required to become a licensed cosmetologist. Students practice techniques in a supervised salon setting. Program includes the latest hairstyling techniques, nail care, chemical services, and skin care. Instruction includes emphasis on hygiene, sanitation, customer relations, and salon management. The Curriculum is designed to comply with the standards of the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology, with the requirement of 1500 contact hours of instruction for students. Upon satisfactory completion of the program of study, a student will be eligible to request an examination by the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology to become a licensed Cosmetologist in the state of Mississippi.
The PRCC Campus also has a program for those already licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology to become a Cosmetology Instructor.
Enrollment is opened in the fall semester, selections for admissions into the cosmetology program are based on the date of cosmetology application, ACT/TABE score, and slot availability.
Requirements for Admission
Be 18 years of age or older by time the program is completed Admission application to Pearl River Community College
Cosmetology application packet (Must pick Up at PRCC Campus)
Two official Transcripts (High school or G.E.D.) (College if Applicable)
Minimum ACT Reading score of 16 or TABE reading score of 10
Minimum ACT Math score of 14 or TABE math score of 9
Acceptable result of Drug Screen and Tuberculosis skin test.
