The Electrical Technology
program prepares individuals to install, operate, maintain, and repair
electrically energized systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial
electrical wiring, DC motors, AC motors, controls, and electrical distribution
panels. Instruction in the use of test equipment and meters is included.
The student will have the
option to pursue an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree which includes
fifteen semester hours of academic coursework in addition to the program
core courses or to pursue a Certificate of Proficiency which consists of
the program core courses.
Employment Outlook:
Job opportunities for skilled electricians are expected to be very good
because of the continuous growth of the electrical industry and technological
advancements. Electricians are needed to install and maintain electrical
devices and wiring in homes, factories, offices, and other structures.
Admission Requirements:
Applicants for Electrical
Technology must have the following documents submitted:
1. PRCC Application for
Admission;
2. An official transcript
from an accredited high school indicating date of graduation or GED transcript
indicating passing;
3. Official transcript from
every college attended (if applicable);
4. ACT scores (for students
pursing the AAS degree).
