Computer
Network Technology
Poplarville
Campus
The
Computer Network curriculum is a two-year degree designed to give the graduate
the knowledge to become an entry-level network administrator. The
courses deal with the design, implementation and maintenance of computer
networks, which includes Windows Server 2003 administration, Cisco router
configuring, information security, and computer systems maintenance.
Our
department takes the hands-on approach, which means that each student is
able to learn by using the equipment that is being taught. Our Cisco
students get to configure and setup the actual switches and routers used
in today’s market. Every student in the Windows Server classes has
his or her own rack-mounted server to setup and use, and each person in
the system maintenance class has a computer to assemble and disassemble.
The
student will have the option to pursue an Associate in Applied Science
(AAS) degree, which includes fifteen semester hours of academic coursework
in addition to the program core courses.
Applicants
for the Computer Network Support Technology must have a high school diploma
or a GED.
