Equipment
Pearl River Community
College enjoys a professional collection of cameras, lighting, sound equipment,
field equipment, post-production equipment and professional production
and post-production facilities.
Students will feel their creativity rise to new levels as they work in
a professional, fully-equipped post-production editing studio. An array
of wide screen monitors allow them to fine-tune their projects (see photo
at right), and with Adobe Premiere Pro serving as their non-linear
editor (NLE) and the CineForm compression solution allowing them to work
real-time with high definition video, they will discover new levels of
cinematic professionalism. A rich array of flat-panel monitors allow
students to view their work in real-time, high definition resolution, so
that they can see the production as it will look upon completion.
A quad core Intel® processor powers the computer which contains 4 GB
of RAM and 4 terrabytes of storage. This high-speed solution cuts
back on lost productivity.
PRCC Television and Film Productions soundstage is generously equipped
with 2 full (1080i) high definition and one standard definition video cameras.
The high definition cameras are equipped with precision optics and 24p
frame-rate, offering film emulation capability. With the major film studios
moving toward full digital production, the equipment offers a chance for
students to learn an emerging technology. The cameras are equipped with
hard drives allowing for tapeless capture and immediate transfer for post-production.
All cameras are equipped to be stationary mounted, mounted on a jib crane,
or mounted on a fig-rig steady-cam.
The soundstage
is also equipped with professional lighting, Sennheiser, AKG, and Audio-Technica
microphones, microphone boom poles, stands, and a full-function 16-track
digital recorder. The soundstage also includes a green screen for chroma-key
work.
