President Ted Alexander and
his wife, Barbara, are in a one-car accident Wednesday, Feb. 4 on Mississippi
Highway 26 near the Poplarville campus. Alexander is listed in good
condition when first hospitalized but is later moved to intensive care
for three days with internal bleeding that led to hemorrhagic shock. He
is first released home Thursday, Feb. 12, readmitted early Feb. 18 with
complications and released again on Feb. 20. On March 3, Dr. Alexander
has a mass of fluid and infection in the pleural spaces around his
