Bill Mitchell—1952-53 Wildcat Football

Bill Mitchell,
a native of Poplarville, was an All-American running back for the 1952-53
Wildcats. He scored 15 touchdowns in 1952 and is listed in the PRC
record book for returning punts 80 and 70 yards for touchdowns.
Mitchell left
PRC to go to William Carey College where he played for the newly organized
Crusaders football team. Graduating, he went to North Mississippi
where he served as a minister there. He was director of student enlistment
at William Carey College from 1956 to 1966 and he served as a minister
in the Forrest County area until his death in April 1990. He and
his wife, the former Elizabeth Davis, also a graduate of PRC and William
Carey and also deceased, founded the Golden Age Ministry in Hattiesburg.
