Nate Fairconnetue—1970-71 Wildcat Football

   Nate Fairconnetue, a 1970 graduate of Bay St. Louis High School, was an all-star player fro the 1970-71 Wildcats.  The 1970 Wildcats posted 9-2 record and won the state championship, while the 1971 Wildcats were 9-1 overall.

   The former all-star Wildcat running back recorded PRC's sixth longest rushing play (84 yards) in 1971.  He is also listed in the top 25 for the Most Yards in a Season (579) and Most Yards in a Game (141).  His 10.1 yard average per carry against Hinds is also in the PRC Record Book.

   Fairconnetue transferred to Delta State University where he became the college's first 1000 yard rusher.  Other records once held at Delta State by Fairconnetue include Most Rushing Attempts in one game—39; Most Net Yards Gained Rushing in Single Game—234; Most Net Yards Gained in Season—1231; and Most Touchdowns Scored in Season—13.

   He began his coaching career at North Natchez in 1974 and he remained there until 1978 when he became assistant football coach and head track coach at Picayune.

   In 1978, he became assistant coach at Picayune High School, working with the very successful Calvin Triplett.  Fairconnetue assisted Triplett in leading the Picayune Maroon Tide to a 66-36 record and the 1986 state championship.

   After Triplett retired, Fairconnetue became the Picayune head coach and athletic director.  His record as Picayune's head coach is 20-20 with two playoff appearances.  As head track coach at Picayune, his team won the Gulf Coast Conference titles 1983-1986.

   Fairconnetue and wife Paula have three children.
