Professional Development

Professional development refers to skills and knowledge often needed for both personal development and career advancement and encompasses a broad range of people, interests, and approaches.  An individual’s interest in lifelong learning and the improvement of his/her skills and knowledge which will enhance the individual’s ability to do his/her work can be found at the heart of professional development.

Ongoing professional development is one indicator of faculty and staff who are aware of the need to remain current in all fields of education.  Professional development may include, but is not limited to, attending state and/or national professional organizational meetings, serving on state and/or national committees, participating in training sessions, and participating in personal enrichment activities such as learning new software.
